Why I Paint: The Joy of Creating Without a Map

Story By Molly

Jul 11 — 2025

Blank canvas frame.

Some artists begin with a sketch. I begin with a breath. There’s something honest about approaching the canvas with nothing but instinct. Abstract art lets me do that. There’s no roadmap — just a sense of curiosity and trust. I mix colors until they speak to each other. I layer, swipe, peel, stretch, blow, and start over. The journey is the point.

Each painting is a reflection of that moment’s energy — of a thought I didn’t know I was having or a feeling I needed to release. You may not see what I saw, and that’s okay. If it makes you feel something, then it worked.
